Hi. I've only just found you on here, but I've followed your blog for quite a while. I can't even tell you how much better your blog makes me feel about myself. So my question is... I have a 18month old little girl and I try to be as positive for her as possible, but my biggest hurdle at the moment is trying taking to her swimming. I haven't been since I was forced at Primary School. Where is a good place to get a good, but not too expensive swimsuit or swim dress, I'm roughly uk size 18/20.

Firstly, hi! I am so, so glad the blog is helping with your body positivity.

The thing about swimming is, as scary as it may feel to you, there are millions of other mums who feel the same and they won’t just be plus size mums, some of the size 10 mums feel exactly the same too!

What you have to remember is when your little girl is older she won’t remember that mummy was big, she’ll remember the fun she had with mummy at the swimming pool and that is the most important thing.

I’d suggest trying the supermarkets for low cost swimming dress options, Bon Marche have some lovely ones, around the £20 mark -http://www.bonmarche.co.uk/swimwear/spot-print-swimdress/invt/17640007%20&bklist=icat,4,shop,shopbyproduct,swimwear&bklist=icat,4,shop,shopbyproduct,swimwear

Evans also have some in the sale at the moment too -http://www.evans.co.uk/en/evuk/category/clothing-250468/swimwear-250499

Hope this helps? If there’s anything else, just give me a shout!

How did you become so confident?

It’s difficult to say. I’ve always been a confident person, I trained as a singer so to perform takes a certain degree of confidence. When it came to my body I always knew I was different but kind of owned it. But sadly over the course of many years of verbal abuse from friends and strangers I lost all confidence and for a while was very down on myself. I then found plus size blogs and started to immerse myself in fat positive media. I stopped reading mainstream magazines, and stopped watching any tv about diets/weightloss/negative body image. I started reading articles about fat acceptance, health at every size (HAES) and anything that was about body confidence.

I basically stopped being horrible to myself, and started looking for the positives.

Hope that helps?

BAAAAAAAM, for fuck’s sake!!

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING ABOUT MAYIM BIALIK.

FOR YEARS AS A KID AND TEEN, SHE BALANCED SCHOOL AND ACTING, NEVER ONCE LETTING HER GRADES DROP OR HER CAREER SUFFER.

SHE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL AT THE TOP OF HER CLASS, AND WAS ACCEPTED TO HARVARD AND YALE BUT CHOSE TO GO TO UCLA BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO STAY CLOSE TO HER FAMILY.

SHE EARNED A BACHELORS IN NEUROSCIENCE, HEBREW STUDIES, AND JEWISH STUDIES ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

SHE THEN WENT ON TO GET HER DOCTORATE AND A Ph.D. IN NEUROSCIENCE, WHILE BALANCING AN ACTING CAREER AND MOTHERHOOD.

SHE HAS BEEN THE BUTT OF SO MANY FASHION JOKES AND ANTI-SEMETIC JOKES IN HOLLYWOOD. WHEN PEOPLE SAW HER AS AMY, THEY RIDICULED HER ONLINE.

BUT SHE STUCK WITH IT. BECAUSE SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING PERSON AND IS HAVING NONE OF THIS “WOMEN CAN’T BE SUCCESSFUL AND SMART BULLSHIT.

SHE IS ALSO A NOW-SINGLE MOM OF TWO BOYS. AND STILL KEEPS HER CAREERS (YES THAT’S FUCKING PLURAL) ACTIVE.

BUT YET, PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE AUDACITY TO ASK HER STUPID FUCKING SEXIST QUESTIONS THAT THEY WOULD NEVER GIVE, SAY, JIM PARSONS OR JOHNNY GALECKI.

MAYIM BIALIK IS A FUCKING ICON.

Been doing some blogging on Huff Post. Here’s the latest one.
